Brooklyn, NY (January 11) – Despite a career-high 24 points from sophomore
Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.), the FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Pratt, 80-70, in its final non-conference regular season contest of the 2022-23 campaign. FDU-Florham dropped to 2-13 on the year, while Pratt improved to 5-11 this season.
Woods shot 9-for-16 from the floor and added five rebounds as well as our steals to his 24 points for the Devils tonight.
Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) tallied 12 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists for FDU-Florham in the setback. Pratt was paced by Patrick O'Gorman, who registered 38 points in the win, while Cameron Hatcher posted an 18 point, 12 rebound double-double for the hosts. O'Gorman's 38 points rank 11th most in a single Division III men's basketball game this season.
After trading points to open the game, Pratt raced out to a 25-13 lead midway through the first half. FDU-Florham was able to chip its deficit to just seven points at the half at 39-32 following a jumper by
Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ) at the buzzer.
Back-to-back three point buckets by Dabas and
Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ) made it a one point game at 39-38 just minutes into the second, but Pratt answered with a 25-9 run to balloon its lead to 17 points at 64-47 with nine minutes to play.
Late in regulation, FDU-Florham ripped off a quick 6-0 run to make it a two possession game, but that is as close as the Devils would get in the 80-70 non-conference setback.
FDU-Florham shot 43.1-percent (25-for-58) from the floor, 37.5-percent (9-for-24) from three point range and 91.7-percent (11-for-12) from the free throw line tonight. The Devils scored 30 points in the paint, 20 points off Pratt turnovers and 14 points off the bench.
Pratt shot 58.5-percent (31-for-53) from the floor, 58.3-percent (14-for-24) from three point range and 80.0-percent (4-for-5) from the free throw line. Pratt also scored 30 points in the paint, 15 points off FDU-Florham turnovers and 16 fast break points.
