Box Score Madison, NJ (September 30) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team competed at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Northeast Regional Championship over the past two days.
MAIN DRAW SINGLES:
In the main draw of 64 student-athletes, FDU-Florham senior
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) defeated Thanasis Kotikas of Bard College, 3-6, 7-5, 10-5, but fell to No. 2 seed Brendan Jimenez of Skidmore College, 6-3, 6-0.
Junior
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) was defeated by Ben Jacobs of Union College, 6-1, 6-1.
MAIN DRAW DOUBLES:
Emery and Carasso competed as one of 32 doubles teams in the bracket, but ultimately fell to Adam Heilbronner and Broderick Pinto of Saint Lawrence University, 8-2.
SINGLES C DRAW:
On Thursday afternoon, FDU-Florham, Drew University and Ramapo College competed in singles competition in what was deemed as the C Draw. The Devils competed in 23 different matchups between the three schools. All matches were completed in just one set.
In the C Draw, sophomore
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) went 3-0 with victories over Eric Dunne of Ramapo, 6-1, Jack Polvere of Drew, 6-3, and Matt Doran of Ramapo, 6-3. First-year
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) went 2-2 with wins over Eric Dunne of Ramapo, 6-0, and Bobby Ciarletta of Ramapo, 6-2.
Senior
Jacob Mostoller (Mullica Hill, NJ) and sophomore
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) both earned individual wins as Mostoller topped Kiran Battacharya of Drew, 6-1, while Saini defeated Matt Doran of Ramapo, 6-3.
FDU-Florham will round out its fall schedule with a dual match at Moravian University on Thursday, October 6 at 4:00 pm.
