Allington Knocks in Game Winner to Lift Men’s Soccer Past Cairn, 3-2

Langhorne, PA (September 28) – Fifth-year forward Sam Allington (London, England) knocked in the game-winning goal at the 73:27 mark to lift the FDU-Florham men's soccer team past Cairn, 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Records: FDU-Florham (4-2-2); Cairn (3-5-2)
Location: Langhorne, PA (G. Patrick Stillman Athletic Complex)
FDU Goal Scorers: Oliver Trujillo (1), Irfan Kermalli (4), Sam Allington (1)

The Highlanders scored the only goal of the first half in the first eight minutes of the contest to take the 1-0 lead.

FDU scored quickly within the first five minutes of the second half as first-year midfielder Mattia Assante Di Cupillo (Toms River, NJ) set up senior midfielder Oliver Trujillo (Bridgewater, NJ) to tie the contest, 1-1.

Cairn retook the lead at the 55:44 mark but was answered by FDU at the 63:17 mark as a goal-kick from graduate goalkeeper Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY) connected with Allington, who headed the ball into position for sophomore midfielder Irfan Kermalli (Parsippany, NJ) to float a shot over the goalkeeper to even the contest, 2-2.

Allington's game-winner was his first goal of the season and was assisted by first-year midfielder Diego Trujillo (Bridgewater, NJ) to give the Devils the 3-2 victory.

Graduate goalkeeper Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY) notched nine saves during the contest.

The Devils will honor its senior class prior to matchup with Valley Forge Saturday, October 1, at 1:00 pm.
