Madison, NJ (September 15) – The FDU-Florham volleyball team swept Old Westbury in non-conference action by set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 inside the Ferguson Recreation Center this evening.
Adrienne DeFuria (Randolph, NJ) led the way for the Devils with seven kills and seven digs, while
Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) chipped in with five kills and a pair of digs.
Jada Everett (Hackensack, NJ) registered four service aces to go along with six digs of her own and
Vanessa Freeman (Piscataway, NJ) tallied a career-high four kills in two sets tonight for FDU-Florham.
Set 1: Old Westbury scored the first three points of the match before FDU-Florham went on a 20-3 run to pull away for the set one victory. In that stretch,
Sienna Volpe (Mount Olive, NJ) led the Devils with a trio of kills. FDU-Florham withstood an 11-3 run by Old Westbury late in the first, but an error gave the Devils a 25-18 set one win.
Set 2: The second set was much closer and saw the Devils with a 17-14 edge before the hosts scored seven straight points to pull away for the win. Reiter registered two kills in the spurt and a kill by DeFuria ended the set, 25-17.
Set 3: FDU-Florham rallied from a 21-17 deficit late in set three with an 8-1 run to secure the sweep. Freeman registered the match-ending kill in her best match of the season.
FDU-Florham will head to Hunter College on Tuesday, September 20 for a non-conference contest at 7:00 pm.
