Farmingdale, NY (September 13) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team opened its fall dual match schedule with a 6-3 non-conference setback to Farmingdale State College on Tuesday afternoon on the road.
Records: FDU-Florham (0-1), Farmingdale (1-0)
Farmingdale jumped out to a 2-1 edge after doubles play as the hosts took the No. 1 position by an 8-2 score, but FDU-Florham's
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) knotted the match up at 1-1 with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. After a long battle at No. 3 doubles,
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Matt Kolongowski (Mastic, NY) were edged by Ethan Cintron and Matt Olkovesky, 8-6.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets with the hosts winning four of six points to claim the dual match.
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was victorious for the Devils at No. 1 singles as he topped Muhammad Sawar, 6-3, 6-2, while Duval picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Cintron at No. 3 singles.
FDU-Florham will have a couple of weeks off before heading to the King's College Invitational on Saturday, September 25.
