Madison, NJ (April 24) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team clinched a berth in the MAC Freedom playoffs with an 8-1 victory this afternoon over King's College (Pa.). The Devils improved to 7-2 overall on the season and 4-1 in league play after today's contest.
Prior to the match, the Devils honored their seniors
CJ Milano (Freehold, NJ) and
JT Murray (Bayville, NJ).
The Devils eased by the Monarchs in doubles play as FDU took all three matches.
Sergio De La Garza (Tijuana, Calif.) and
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) won 8-2 at No. 1, while
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) and Murray as well as
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, Pa.) and
Jacob Mostoller (Mullica Hill, NJ) won by duplicate 8-1 scores at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
FDU won five of six singles matches on the day as well. De La Garza won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, Carasso won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Puccia won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3,
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and Schwartz won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5.
FDU will host Wilkes University on Tuesday, April 26 at 3:00 pm in MAC Freedom action.
