Glenside, Pa. (April 13) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team improved to 2-1 in MAC Freedom play with a 9-0 shutout win at Arcadia University this afternoon. FDU is now 4-2 overall on the year.
FDU jumped out in front 3-0 after doubles play as
Sergio De La Garza (Tijuana, Calif.) and
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1.
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) and
Jacob Mostoller (Mullica Hill, NJ) earned an 8-1 win at No. 2, while
Matt Kolongowski (Mastic, NY) and
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) won by an 8-2 final at No. 3.
All six singles matches went to the Devils in straight sets.
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) secured the match winning point for FDU with a 6-0, 6-0 win over David Cassel at No. 5.
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) was also victorious by a 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 6.
Both De La Garza and Mostoller, at No. 1 and No. 4 respectively, won by 6-1, 6-1 finals, while Puccia defeated Matthew Nagy, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 and Carasso edged Francis Tamesis, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2.
FDU is scheduled to host Ramapo College tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 pm in non-conference action.
