Glenside, Pa. (April 12) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team opened Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play with a 5-4 victory over Arcadia University this afternoon on the road.
The Devils jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play today as
Nicole DelRosso (Summit, NJ) and
Kayla Dello Iacono (Moodus, Conn.) won 8-2 at No. 1, while
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) and
Erin Weller (Pitman, NJ) were victorious by an 8-5 score at No. 2.
Arcadia and FDU split the six singles matchups to account for the 5-4 final score. DelRosso defeated Julia Paraboschi, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, Cronkhite bested Gertride Jeack, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 and Weller took down Tatum Marino, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
Marina Lemin (Caldwell, NJ) and Bridget Terry played a tight matchup at No. 6 but after three long sets Terry came out with the victory, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6.
FDU will travel to Stevens tomorrow afternoon for its second MAC Freedom match in two days. First serve is set for 3:00pm in Hoboken.
