Madison, NJ (March 30) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team opened its spring season with a dominant 9-0 win over crosstown rival Saint Elizabeth University this afternoon.
FDU (3-1) opened strong with three victories in doubles play as
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) and
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) earned an 8-0 win at No. 1.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Matt Kolongowski (Mastic, NY) picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2, while
Quinn Carmody (Hingham, Mass.)
and Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) were victorious at No. 3 by an 8-1 score.
As a team, the Devils dropped just one combined set in all six singles matches. Emery,
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, Pa.),
Jacob Mostoller (Mullica Hill, NJ),
Dylan Andrada (New Brunswick, NJ) and
Tyler Schacher (Blooming Grove, NY) all blanked their opponents by 6-0, 6-0 finals.
At number one singles, Duval topped Stephen Valencia Torres, 6-1, 6-0.
FDU will open MAC Freedom play on Sunday, April 3 with a home match against Wilkes University at 9:00 am.
