Morristown, NJ (March 22) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team opened its spring season on Tuesday afternoon with a dominant 9-0 win over crosstown rival Saint Elizabeth University.
After the Devils took number one doubles by default, the No. 2 team of
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) and
Erin Weller (Pitman, NJ) as well as the No. 3 team of
Amy Mayo (Long Branch, NJ) and
Marina Lemin (Caldwell, NJ) blanked their opponents by 8-0 finals.
In singles play, FDU only dropped three total sets.
Kayla Dello Iacono (Moodus, Conn.), Weller and Mayo all won their matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
At No. 4 singles, Cronkite topped Dayanna Vera, 6-1 6-0, while at No. 6 singles
Marina Lemin (Caldwell, NJ) won her first collegiate match over Stacey Lissade, 6-1, 6-1.
FDU will open MAC Freedom play on Sunday, April 3 against Wilkes University at 9:00 am on the FDU Tennis Courts.
