Center Valley, Pa. (February 5) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team dropped an 81-44 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) decision on the road at DeSales University this afternoon.
FDU-Florham (2-15, 1-11 MAC Freedom) received a team-high 12 points from
Angela Downey (Lyndhurst, NJ) as well as a team-high 13 rebounds from
Cassidy Miller (Roxbury, NJ) in the effort. DeSales (15-3, 13-0 MAC Freedom) saw five student-athletes score double digit points paced by a 13-point effort by Megan Bealer. Lindsey Welsh came up one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards in 29 minutes.
DeSales raced out to an 8-0 lead, but a three-point shot by
Brielle Fedo (Lake Hopatcong, NJ) just a few minutes later cut the hosts lead to just four at 13-9. The Bulldogs scored the final four points of the first quarter for a 17-9 edge through ten minutes.
A 25-4 run in the second quarter that stretched six and a half minutes pushed DeSales out to a 26-point advantage at 42-14. The Bulldogs led by as many as 39 in the third and 40 in the fourth en route to the 81-44 win over the Devils.
FDU shot 27.4-percent (17-for-62) from the floor, 31.8-percent (7-for-22) from three-point range and 60.0-percent (3-for-5) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 12 points in the paint and received 15 points off their bench. DeSales shot 41.4-percent (29-for-70) from the floor, 34.8-percent (8-for-23) from three-point range and 68.2-percent (15-for-22) from the free throw line. DeSales scored 36 points in the paint and 41 points off of 25 FDU turnovers.
The Devils will host Arcadia University on Wednesday, February 9 at 6:00 pm in another MAC Freedom contest in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
