Madison, NJ (February 21) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team opened its 2022 spring season at the Drew University Ranger Invitational over the weekend. It was an all doubles tournament that ended in two draws and a total of four champions were crowned.
On Saturday,
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) went 3-1 in their four matchups on Saturday. The duo from FDU-Florham topped Philip and Kravchenko of Drew, 6-1, Sherman and Reynolds of Drew, 6-0, and Carroccia and Dunlap of Drew, 7-5.
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and
Sergio De La Garza (Tijuana, Calif.) picked up a 7-6 (8-6) win over Bazant and Dessereau of Harford as well as a 6-1 win over Perera and Schuler of Drew.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Matt Kolongowski (Mastic, NY) posted a 6-2 win over Reynolds and Buchanan of Drew to round out Saturday's highlights.
On Sunday, in the quarterfinals of the "B" draw Andresen and Kolongowski were edged, 6-3, by Fredriksson and Fuentes of Division I Rider, while Duval and Emery fell to Carroccia and Dunlap of Drew, 6-2.
