Women's Basketball Drops 73-57 Decision at King's

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (February 12) – King's College (Pa.) outscored FDU-Florham 43-26 in the second half to secure a 73-57 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) win over the Devils on Saturday afternoon inside Scandlon Gymnasium. 
 
FDU (2-17, 1-13 MAC Freedom) was led by Brielle Fedo (Lake Hopatcong, NJ) and Tamyah Jones (Dover, Del.) who scored 16 and 12 points, respectively, and pulled down eight boards apiece. Arian Coleman (Camden, NJ) chipped in with 11 points, two steals and four defensive rebounds in 40 minutes on the court.
 
King's (14-8, 9-5 MAC Freedom) received a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds from Samantha Rajza on a 9-for-17 shooting performance from the floor. 
 
The Devils used a 12-2 run in the first quarter and took an early 14-7 lead just six minutes into the contest. FDU ended the opening stanza ahead by five (19-14) following a layup by Jones. King's kept the majority of the second quarter a one or a two possession game and came within one point (21-20) of taking the lead but FDU maintained its edged by a 31-30 score at the break.
 
After both teams traded baskets early in the third, King's used a 12-1 run to build its lead to 11 points at 50-39 with two minutes to play in the stanza. The hosts led by eight through 30 minutes of play. 

King's scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter and led by 16 at 60-44. FDU never came closer than 12 points as the Monarchs came away with the 73-57 MAC Freedom win.
 
FDU shot 41.5-percent (22-for-53) from the floor, 31.6-percent (6-for-19) from three point range and 38.9-percent (7-for-18) from the free throw line. The Devils also scored 28 of their 57 points in the paint. King's shot 40.9-percent (27-for-66) from the floor, 28.9-percent (11-for-38) from three point range and 57.1-percent (8-for-14) from the free throw line. King's scored 14 points in the paint, 15 points on the fast break, 26 points off of FDU turnover and 31 points off the bench.
 
FDU will celebrate Senior Day on Tuesday, February 15 with a MAC Freedom contest in the Ferguson Recreation Center against Stevens at 6:00 pm
