Women's Basketball Drops 113-32 MAC Freedom Final Against #22/23 DeSales

Madison, NJ. (December 3) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team hosted fellow Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opponent DeSales University which resulted in a 113-32 loss for the Devils on Saturday afternoon.
 
FDU-Florham dropped to 0-4 overall and to 0-2 in MAC Freedom play, while DeSales improved to 7-0 overall and to 2-0 in the league.
 
The Devils were led by Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ), who totaled ten points, six assists and three rebounds. Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ) registered a team-high five rebounds to go along two points. In just 15 minutes of action, Megan Bealer led DeSales with 24 points and six rebounds on 10-for-12 shooting from the floor in addition to four steals.
 
Rodriguez made the first points of the game for the Devils on a jump shot assisted by Alyssa Olivo (Nutley, NJ), three minutes into the first after Arcadia opened the game on a 6-0 run. Isabella Torrado (Teaneck, NJ) swished a three for FDU-Florham but the score stood at 27-8 through one and 53-12 at halftime.
 
FDU-Florham converted for twelve points in the third on a jumper by Shyposh, eight points by Torrado and a jumper by Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ). Rodriguez and Kozik capped the scoring for FDU-Florham in fourth with a couple jumpers and a free throw by Torrado. The final score stood at 113-32 in favor of DeSales after 40 minutes of play.
 
FDU-Florham shot 30.0-percent (12-for-40) from the floor, 22.7-percent (5-for-22) from three point range and 75.0-percent (3-for-4) from the free throw line, while DeSales shot 52.7-percent (48-for-91) from the floor, 45.2-percent (14-for-31) from three point range and 42.9-percent (3-for-7) from the free throw line.

DeSales scored 64 points in the paint, 70 points off FDU-Florham turnovers and 59 points off the bench.
 
FDU-Florham returns home on Wednesday, December 7 for a MAC Freedom contest at 8:00 pm against Stevens Institute of Technology.
