Madison, NJ (December 7) – FDU-Florham first-year
Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) registered a career-high 23 points in tonight's MAC Freedom contest with Stevens Institute of Technology. The nationally-ranked #25 Ducks, however, came away with the 88-35 win on the road in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
In addition to Rodriguez's 23 points, FDU-Florham (0-5, 0-3 MAC Freedom) got six points and four rebounds from senior
Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ). Stevens (8-1, 3-0 MAC Freedom) was guided by a ten point, ten rebound double-double by Olivia Schubiger.
Shyposh scored the first points of tonight's game before Stevens went on a 24-3 run for a 24-7 lead after one.
Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ),
Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) and Rodriguez combined for FDU-Florham's seven points in the first. Stevens outscored FDU-Florham 27-7 in the second for the 51-14 lead at the break.
FDU-Florham scored its most points of the game in the third quarter as Rodriguez accounted for ten of the 12 points for the Devils in the stanza.
FDU-Florham shot 28.6-percent (14-for-49) from the floor and 58.3-percent (7-for-12) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 20 of their 35 points in the paint and got 25 points off the bench.
Stevens shot 46.9-percent (38-for-81) from the floor, 27.3-percent (6-for-22) from three point range and 60.0-percent (6-for-10) from the free throw line. The Ducks scored 36 points in the paint, 34 points off turnovers and 67 points off the bench.
FDU-Florham will head to Wilkes University on Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 pm for another MAC Freedom contest.
