CCNY Holds Off Women's Basketball, 59-44

Madison, NJ (November 28) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team dropped its home-opener in non-conference play against CCNY, 59-44, on Monday night.

First-year guard Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) led the way for the Devils in scoring with 14 points while also collecting four rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) and first-year guard Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) each collected double-digit rebounds with 10 each while also both scoring six points.

The Beavers outscored the Devils 14-11 in both the first and second quarters to take a 28-22 lead into the half. CCNY stymied the FDU offense in the third quarter, holding the Devils to only eight points while scoring 15 of its own. Fairleigh Dickinson scored its most points in the fourth quarter with 14, but were unable to catch up to the Beavers for a final score of 59-44.

FDU shot 23.1% from the field (15-65) with 25% of it coming from three pointers (4-16) and 50% form free throws (10-20). The Devils collected 18 points in the paint, 14 second chance points and 13 points off turnovers.

CCNY made 31% of its shots from the floor (22-71), including a 27.3% coming from behind the arc (3-11) and shooting 48.3% from the free throw line (12-25). The Beavers amassed 34 points in the paint, 18 points off turnovers and eight second chance points.

Fairleigh Dickinson will open up MAC Freedom play on the road Wednesday, November 30 at Arcadia with tip off scheduled at 8:00 pm.
