Hartford, Conn. (November 22) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Division I Hartford, 82-45, in an exhibition game on Tuesday night on the road.
FDU-Florham was guided by
Matthew Johnson (Oak Ridge, NJ), who registered 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, a block and two steals. All 11 student-athletes who dressed tonight got in the game and nine scored at least one point.
Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ) and
Andre Macaranas (Wayne, NJ) both tallied nine points apiece.
The Devils jumped out to a 14-12 lead following a three point basket from Johnson. Hartford answered with a 16-0 run for a 30-14 lead with four minutes left in the first. The Hawks led 35-20 at the break. Hartford made 60.7-percent of its shots from the floor in the second half and outscored the Devils 47-25 in the second 20 minutes of action to account for the 82-45 final.
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 29.1-percent (16-for-55) from the floor, 38.7-percent (12-for-31) from three point range and 50.0-percent (1-for-2) from three free throw line. The Devils scored a season-high 16 points off the bench tonight.
Hartford shot 49.2-percent (31-for-63) from the floor, 45.2-percent (14-for-31) from behind the arc and 60.0-percent (6-for-10) from the free throw line. The Hawks scored 30 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers and 41 points off the bench.
FDU-Florham will host Rutgers-Camden on Sunday, November 27 at 2:00 pm in non-conference action following the Thanksgiving Break.
