Madison, NJ (October 5) – The FDU-Florham field hockey team dropped a 1-0 non-conference decision at home against New Paltz this afternoon on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field.

New Paltz put immediate pressure on the Devils, but FDU-Florham keeper
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) made five saves over the opening 15 minutes of play and added four more in the second quarter as the game went to the break scoreless.
Early in the third quarter, FDU-Florham junior
Erin Kay (Lewes, Del.) came up with a big defensive save as she cleared the ball off the line on a shot by Morgan Woolley. The Devils put a pair of shots on cage in the third (both saved), as the game continued to remain scoreless through 45 minutes of action.
In the fourth, New Paltz had five penalty corner attempts and converted on its fourth one as Julia Cummings inserted the ball to the stick of Shannon Bernhardt, who registered the game's lone goal with 4:54 left in regulation.
Despite taking the loss this afternoon, Prachthauser tied her career-high with 11 saves on the day. New Paltz held a 17-5 advantage in shots and an 11-5 margin in penalty corners.
FDU-Florham will continue Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday, October 8 with a road match at Arcadia University beginning at 12:00 pm.
