Football Earns 10-2 Senior Day Victory Over Albright

Madison, NJ (October 29) – The FDU-Florham football team registered a 10-2 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Senior Day win over Albright College this afternoon on Robert T. Shields Field.

Prior to the game, FDU-Florham honored its senior class in Nayson Brown (Red Bank, NJ), TJ Brown (Staten Island, NY), Chris DiMedio (Cornwall, NY), Alex Galarza (Holmdel, NJ), Marquez Haywood (Lindenwold, NJ), Christian Korchma (Brooklyn, NY), Jacob Luna (Perth Amboy, NJ), Liam Meakem (Toms River, NJ), Tristan Miranda (Woodbridge, NJ), Joseph Randazzo (Staten Island, NY), Connor Schaefer (Parsippany, NJ), Jake Swindasz (Hamilton, NJ) and Joe Swindasz (Hamilton, NJ). The Devils also honored their two graduating senior cheerleaders including Rayana Patania (Springfield, NJ) and Nicole Faller (Howell, NJ).

Today, FDU-Florham was led by sophomore quarterback Ryon Thomas (Mattapoisett, Mass.), who completed 15 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, N. Brown posted a game-high 58 yards, while Brendan Dennis (West Palm Beach, Fla.) led the Devils through the air with three receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Devils were led by Tyrell Pereira (North Brunswick, NJ), who registered 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, a half sack and forced a fumble. Both Matt Heineman (Staten Island, NY) and Ginika Ozurumba (Union, nJ) tallied seven tackles, one tackle for a loss and one sack.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Devils put three points on the board on a 30-yard field goal by DiMedio. FDU-Florham took over at the Albright 23-yard line after Kenny Hands (Runnemede, NJ) recovered a fumble that was forced by Randazzo deep in visitor territory.

Before the break, Thomas found Dennis for a 33-yard touchdown as the score stood at 10-0 in favor of the hosts at halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, the Devils were pinned deep in their own side of the field and Albright sacked Thomas twice including once in the end zone on a play from the one yard line for a safety. That was all the scoring in today's game as it finished in a 10-2 final.

Next week, the Devils will travel to No. 14 Delaware Valley University for a 12:00 pm matchup with the Aggies.
