Field Hockey Tripped Up By Montclair State, 4-0, in a Non-Conference Game

Madison, NJ (October 26) - The FDU-Florham field hockey team was defeated by Montclair State, 4-0, in a non-conference game on Robert T. Shields field, in Madison, NJ on Wednesday afternoon. Before the game, both teams honored Mental Health Awareness with the help of The Hidden Opponent, by wearing green ribbons during today's game.

In the first quarter of the game, each team was awarded a penalty corner, but were unable to turn the opportunity into a goal.

Montclair's Lindsay Champa was the first to connect the ball into the back of the cage off an assist by Tori Suetra, with 4:10 left in the second quarter for what seemed to be the game winning goal. Kelly Westervelt followed the first goal with a second, just 26 seconds after. Westervelt was assisted by Lindsey Bicher.  

In the third quarter, the Devils were able to get a shot off on goal but were unable to connect for their first score of the game.

The fourth quarter brought another two goals for Montclair. Their third goal of the game was scored at the 47:09 timestamp by Champa, for her second goal of the game. MSU's fourth goal was scored 50 seconds after the third, off an assist by Sutera.

Junior Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) and sophomore Emily Schlessinger (Asbury, NJ) both saw time in today's game. Schlessinger did not have to make a save, but Practhauser was forced to make five saves in tonight's contest.

FDU-Florham is back in action again Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 PM, on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field when it faces #15 nationally ranked, York (PA).
