Madison, NJ (October 25) – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team earned a playoff berth to the 2022 MAC Freedom tournament for the first time since 2017 as the Devils knocked off Wilkes University, 2-1, tonight on Robert T. Shields Field.

After it seemed like the contest was heading into a scoreless halftime pause, first-year midfielder
David Ciach (Ringwood, NJ) headed in a rebound shot from senior midfielder
Mateo Ladino (Montville, NJ) in the final minute of the first half to give the Devils the 1-0 advantage going into break. Ladino's original attempt ricocheted off the post and to the head of Ciach.
Wilkes tied the contest at the 71:46 mark as Xavier Guerrerio headed a corner kick from Matthew Meagher into the top left corner of the net to knot the score at 1-1.
Less than eight minutes later, the Devils regained the lead at the 79:10 timestamp as senior midfielder
Oliver Trujillo (Bridgewater, NJ) pushed the ball ahead to sophomore midfielder
Drilon Toska (Lincoln Park, NJ), who dribbled past a Wilkes defender and the goalkeeper to place in the eventual game-winning goal. Wilkes attempted to tie up the contest late in regulation, but the FDU defense held strong to secure the victory.

Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY) tallied five saves in another winning performance as his record pushed to 9-3-4.
Nine wins for the Devils this season ties last year's total and is the most for FDU-Florham since the 2013 campaign (12-9-1). FDU-Florham's four wins (4-1-2) in MAC Freedom play are the most since the 2016 season when the Devils went 4-3-0 in league games.
FDU-Florham finishes its regular season schedule on Friday, October 28, as it hosts Lycoming College at 7:00 pm on Robert T. Shields Field.
