Volleyball Downs John Jay in Straight Sets

New York, NY (October 24) – Paced by 13 kills from first-year Gabbie Hart (Cherry Hill, NJ), the FDU-Florham volleyball team began its final week of the regular season with a sweep at John Jay. The Devils were victorious by set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-19.
 
Hart paced the Devils offense as she hit .464 (13-0-28), while Jada Everett (Hackensack, NJ) added seven kills. Junior Charlotte Fruscione (Mahwah, NJ) registered six kills and added 13 digs to her stat line, while first-year Julia Hudson (Bel Air, Md.) tallied a match-high 15 digs, her tenth double-digit dig effort of the year.

Set 1: FDU-Florham held a 14-11 edge in the opening set before the Devils went on an 11-1 run to win it 25-12. Hart led FDU-Florham with three kills over the stretch, Vanessa Freeman (Piscataway, NJ) added a kill and Everett tallied an ace for the 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: The Devils held a slim three point lead at 18-15 before going on another lengthy run of 6-1 for set points, 24-16. Freeman registered two kills and Everett added a kill over the spurt. John Jay fended off four straight set points before an error by the Bloodhounds gave the Devils a 25-20 victory.
 
Set 3: In set three, the Devils led 16-14 and once again ripped off an 8-2 run for match point, 24-16. Fruscione led FDU-Florham over the stretch with a trio of kills, while Everett, Freeman and Hart all added solo kills. John Jay held off FDU-Florham three times for match point before a swing by Kacie Ros (Bridgewater, NJ) ended the match in a sweep.

FDU-Florham will travel to Misericordia University tomorrow night at 7:00 pm looking to secure its first Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) postseason berth since 2018.
