Stevenson Defeats Football, 20-7

Owings Mills, Md. (October 22) – The FDU-Florham football team fell to Stevenson University by a 20-7 final this afternoon on the road in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) matchup at Mustang Stadium. Today's result pushed FDU-Florham's record to 4-3 overall and to 2-3 in the MAC, while Stevenson improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in league games.

FDU-Florham sophomore quarterback Ryon Thomas (Mattapoisett, Mass.) completed 14 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown, while first-year Kwanir Edwards (Trenton, NJ) led the Devils on the ground with 40 yards on the day. Graduate student Connor Perez (Warwick, NY) caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown for FDU-Florham. Defensively, graduate student Kenny Hands (Runnemede, NJ) and Tyrell Pereira (North Brunswick, NJ) both registered nine tackles in the effort.

Stevenson drove 65 yards on the first possession of the game that was capped by an eight yard touchdown pass from Ryan Sedgwick to Tylor Blake. Pereira blocked the extra point as the score stood at 6-0 in favor of the hosts just 1:46 into the contest.

The Mustangs scored solo touchdowns in both the second and third quarters as they held a 20-0 advantage into the third quarter.

FDU-Florham was able to put together an eight play, 69-yard drive for its first score of the game early in the fourth quarter. The drive was capped by a 23-yard touchdown reception by Perez, his sixth of the year. Perez has now registered at least one touchdown reception in each of the last four games for the Devils.

On its next possession, FDU-Florham drove all the way down to the Stevenson 28-yard line, but Corey Jones-Pentz intercepted the ball and thwarted the comeback attempt by the Devils.

FDU-Florham will return home for a Senior Day matchup against Albright College on Saturday, October 29 at 12:00 pm.
