Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (January 22) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Wilkes University, 79-52, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest played inside Henry Gymnasium this afternoon.
 
FDU (3-14, 0-9 MAC Freedom) was led by 
Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ) who scored 12 points in 32 minutes off the bench, while 
Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) notched ten points, five rebounds and two steals for the Devils.
 
With the win, Wilkes (5-10, 3-6 MAC Freedom) earned the two game season series sweep this year as on December 4, the Colonels topped the Devils 83-60 in Madison. The Colonels were guided by Matthew Davidheiser and Drake Marshall, who scored 25 and 23 points respectively as they combined for 48 of Wilkes' 79 points this afternoon. Marshall shot 11-for-14 from the floor and also led the Colonels with seven boards in 29 minutes of action.
 
Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) scored the opening bucket of the game for FDU before Wilkes went on a 15-3 run over a span of five minutes for an early 15-5 advantage. From that point on the Colonels maintained their double digit lead for the majority of the first half. FDU was able to cut its deficit to nine (31-22) with 3:35 left in the opening half, but Wilkes answered and knocked down three of its final four shots of the stanza for an eventual 17 point lead (39-22) at the break.
Wilkes shot 54.8-percent (17-for-31) from the floor in the first half and held FDU to a 32.0-percent shooting percentage from the floor (8-for-25) over the opening 20 minutes of today's contest. The hosts maintained their advantage in the second half and outscored the Devils by a 40-30 margin over the final 20 minutes of action en route to the 79-52 win. 
FDU shot 33.3-percent from the floor (18-for-54), 20.0-percent from three point range (5-for-20) and 64.7-percent from the free throw line (11-for-17). Over the course fof the game, Wilkes shot 55.9-percent from the floor (33-for-59), 50.0-percent from three point range (11-for-22) and 40.0-percent from the free throw line (2-for-5)
Wilkes held a 40-27 edge in rebounds and scored 34 of its 79 points in the paint.
 
FDU will next head to Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, January 26 for a MAC Freedom game at 8:00 pm.
