Men's Basketball Clipped By Stevens, 68-46

Hoboken, NJ (January 19) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology by a 68-46 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action from inside Canavan Arena on Wednesday evening.
 
FDU (3-13, 0-8 MAC Freedom) was paced by Miles Crystian (Red Bank, NJ) who shot 6-for-7 from the floor and 1-for-1 from behind the arc for a team-high 13 points. Aidan Newman (Gainesville, Fla.) and Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) also contributed 11 and ten points, respectively to the effort. 
 
Stevens (6-6, 4-2 MAC Freedom) used a 20 point, 13 rebound double double from Alec DiPietrantonio to secure the win. DiPietrantonio was hot from the floor as he shot at a 10-for-12 clip. Connor Coffey and Jack Spellman added 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Ducks. 
 
The first eight minutes of tonight's contest was tightly contested as it was a one possession game for a majority of that stretch. A pair of free throws by Michael Morrissey (Pearl River, NY) made the score 14-13 in favor of Stevens midway through the stanza. Stevens, however, over the last 12 minutes of the half, outscored FDU by a 26-6 margin for a 39-19 lead at the break.
 
The hosts posted a 15-3 run to open the second half as Stevens went ahead by 33 points (55-22). FDU was never able to get any closer than 22 points as the Ducks won the game by a 68-46 final. 

As a team, FDU shot 26.3-percent from the floor (15-for-57), 14.7-percent (5-for-34) from three point range and 61.1-percent (11-for-18) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 14 of their 46 points in the paint and six off of Stevens turnovers.

Stevens shot 47.0-percent (31-for-66) from the floor, 9.1-percent (2-for-22) from three point range and 80.0-percent (4-for-5) from the free throw line. The Ducks scored 50 of their 68 points in the paint and saw 20 of its point from student-athletes off the bench.
 
FDU will continue its MAC Freedom schedule on Saturday, January 22 with a road game at Wilkes University scheduled for a 3:00 pm tip-off.
