Union, NJ (September 25) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2021 season as the Devils defeated Kean University on the road on Friday evening.
FDU went up early as the Devils took two of three doubles matchups.
Nicole DelRosso (Summit, NJ) and
Erin Weller (Pitman, NJ) topped the No. 1 pairing from Kean by an 8-4 score, while at No. 2 doubles
Kayla Dello Iacono (Moodus, Conn.) and
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) eased past Bianca Ortega and Jessica Kobilas, 8-2.
In singles play, DelRosso, DelloIacono, Weller and Cronkhite all picked up wins in straight sets to cap their respective days off at 2-0 which led to the eventual 6-3 team win for the Devils. DelRosso won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0, DelloIacono (No. 2 singles) and Weller (No. 3 singles) won their matches by, 6-2, 6-4 scores, while Cronkhite topped her opponent 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
FDU women's tennis will play at Lehman College on Tuesday, September 28 at 3:30 pm in its second to last matchup of the fall season.
