Madison, NJ (September 1) – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team fought back from a two goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes against William Paterson University in the season opener for both squads.

First Half:
- William Paterson scored just 1:43 into the match after Anthony Nole headed the ball past FDU senior keeper Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY). The play began as a corner kick and deflected off of David Moreira before Nole posted his first goal of the year.
- The Pioneers doubled their advantage in the 26th minute as Johnny Gadaleta finished a cross from Roger Bermejo.
- FDU graduate student Ricky La Stella (Bridgewater, NJ) registered FDU-Florham's first goal of the season as he headed the ball past William Paterson keeper Thomas Hatch off a free kick from 20 yards out by junior Oliver Trujillo (Bridgewater, NJ).
- Trujillo capped the scoring for FDU when he converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
Second Half:
- Both teams had good scoring chances in the second stanza, but due to the heavy rain and wind held the Devils and Pioneers scoreless. The game was called after 90 minutes of action.
- Grey and Hatch came up huge for their teams over the second 45 minutes as they posted six saves a piece keeping the score knotted at two.
FDU-Florham heads down Madison Avenue for Drew University's Kick Off Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and September 5. The Devils will play the host Rangers on Saturday at 6:00 pm and either New Paltz or Rowan on Sunday at a time to be determined later.
