Madison, NJ (July 14) – Fairleigh Dickinson University and Director of Athletics
Jenn Noon has announced that the interim tag has been removed from
Jesse Boyland's title and he will be the next Head Athletic Trainer for the FDU Devils.
"Jesse rose to the ranks and justified why we needed to remove the interim tag from his title," said Noon. "Jesse's commitment to the health and safety of our student-athletes, especially during a trying time with the pandemic was paramount. I am confident our Sports Medicine Department is in great hands with Jesse at the helm."
Boyland stepped into the interim role for the 2020-21 academic year during which he oversaw all efforts regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and return to play protocols for the Devils' 19 intercollegiate programs. In the spring of 2021, thanks to the work of Boyland and his team, a majority of teams at FDU-Florham were able to compete against teams in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and have the opportunity to play for a postseason berth. With that, the women's lacrosse team won the MAC Freedom title, advanced to the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and sported an impressive 16-1 record along with way.
"I am beyond excited to take on the role of Head Athletic Trainer here at FDU. I want to thank
Jenn Noon, all of the FDU athletics coaches, staff and our assistant athletic trainers
Lauren Michel and
Iavana Parker," said Boyland. "With all the help everyone has given me along the way, last year couldn't have been a success without everyone's efforts. We are all excited to continue to have a successful and safe year and we as the Sports Medicine Department will do everything we can to do so."
Boyland first joined the FDU sports medicine staff in the summer of 2018 after graduating with his Master's Degree from Seton Hall University. While at Seton Hall, Boyland worked with local high schools and colleges such as Delbarton High School, West Morris Central High School, Drew University, and the Rutgers Football Team.
Prior to Seton Hall, he worked as a Student Athletic Trainer Aide at Division I Virginia Tech while completing his Bachelor's Degree in human nutrition, food and exercise. Boyland worked with several teams, including the women's lacrosse program.
