Women's Basketball Drops Contest at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, PA (March 11, 2021)- FDU Women's Basketball traveled to Delaware Valley University on Thursday afternoon, falling in a Middle Atlantic Freedom Conference matchup, 55-39. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-6 while the Aggies improve too
 
First Half
Delaware Valley controlled the pace of play over the games first 20-minutes. First-years, Anissa Arteaga and Madison Daly both hit three-pointers in the first quarter. Fellow first-year, Jade-Dee Tolentino got in on the action in the second, with three of her own, two from the paint and one from the line. sophomore, Angela Downey hit a three during the half, sophomore, Jayda Bing knocked down and bucket and senior, Francesca Shipe finished off the first half scoring with two-points of her own. After the end of the first 20, the Aggies held a 33-15.
 
Second Half
The group of Arteaga, Downey, Bing and Tolentino tallied all 10-points for FDU in the third quarter of play. Shipe started the scoring for both teams in the fourth quarter, adding another basket and free throw to finish the final 10-minutes with five points. Senior Arian Coleman knocked down a bucket and first-year, Brielle Fedo hit from deep for FDU. Del Val completed 40-minutes of play with a 55-39 victory.
 
Lead Devil
Bing led the way for the Devils, finishing with nine points, seven rebounds and four assists.
 
Team Effort
FDU had eight different scorers in the contest, six with five or more points.
 
Meeting with the O-Board
The Devils out rebounded the Aggies on the offensive glass, 14-to-6, led by Shipe's four. Those second chance opportunities led to 14-points in the paint.
 
Up Next
The Devils return home for Senior Night at the Ferguson Recreation Center against Delaware Valley. Tip-off for the game is set for 7:00pm with senior day festivities beginning at 6:55pm on fdudevils.com.
