Women's Basketball Falls at DeSales University, 93-42

CENTER VALLEY, PA (February 19, 2021)- FDU Women's Basketball travelled to DeSales University on Friday night, dropping a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom match-up, 93-42. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-2 (0-2) while the Bulldogs improve their record to 3-0 (3-0).
 
First Quarter
DeSales scored the game's first seven-points, before FDU sophomore, Jayda Bing got the Devils on the board with a three. After a Bulldog bucket, first-year, Jade-Dee Tolentino got in on the action with a bucket in the paint at the 6:29 mark. Another DSU run brought the score to 19-5 with 3:17 remaining in the first frame. Sophomore, Angela Downey would stop the bleeding with her first three of the game at 3:10. DeSales finished with the final six-points, closing the quarter with a 24-8 lead.

Second Quarter
After the Bulldogs extended their lead to 23-points early in the second quarter, senior, Francesca Shipe hit back-to-back buckets to get some momentum for FDU. After DeSales ran again, senior, Arian Coleman hit a bucket with 2:33 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs would finish the first twenty minutes of play with a 44-16 lead.
 
Third Quarter
DeSales was commanding in the third quarter, scoring 29 total points in ten-minutes. In the quarter, Tolentino scored four-points to lead the Devils, while first-year, Anissa Arteaga knocked down her first basket of the game from beyond the arc. After 30-minutes of play, the Bulldogs led 73-27.
 
Fourth Quarter
FDU didn't quit in the fourth, having their best offensive quarter of the game, scoring 15-points led by Shipe's seven. DeSales closed out the game with a 93-42 victory.

Lead Devils
Tolentino and Shipe were the leading scorers for FDU and the only players to finish in double figures. Jade-Dee finished with a career high 13-points on 6-of-13 (46%) from the field while adding six rebounds. Shipe ended the day with 11-points on 4-of-5 (80%) from the field and six rebounds.
 
Next Up
The Devils are back in action tomorrow, February 20, at the Ferguson Recreation Center for their first home game of 2021, against DeSales University. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Stream it live on fdudevils.com.
