Women's Basketball loses to DeSales University at Home

MADISON, NJ (February 20, 2021)- FDU Women's Basketball played host to DeSales University in the second game of a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom back-to-back on Saturday, dropping the contest, 90-34. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the MAC Freedom Conference, with the win, the Bulldogs improve to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. 

First Half
DeSales started off with the games first 12-points, taking an early 12-0 lead with 5:41 remaining in the quarter. It was first-year Jade-Dee Tolentino stopping the run with a two-point basket, then, It was Tolentino again a minute later to keep the lead at ten. The Bulldogs controlled the remaining minutes of the first, holding an 18-6 lead after the first ten-minutes.

DSU scored the first five-points of the second quarter, before the Devils got on the board with two free throws by senior, Francesca Shipe. After a jumper in the paint by senior, Arian Coleman, DeSales put their foot back on the gas, outscoring FDU 15-2 over the final six minutes, taking a 37-12 lead into the break.

Second Half
DeSales started where they left off in the first half, scoring the first 13-points of the quarter. Sophomore, Angela Downey hit her first three of the game at the 6:21 mark, followed by first-year, Brielle Fedo knocking down a triple of her own at 3:52. Coleman would add a basket in the quarter, Bulldogs led 68-20 heading into the fourth.

For the second straight night, FDU had its best offensive quarter in the final frame. Tolentino led the way, scoring 12 of the Devils 14-points in the quarter. DeSales would close out the victory, 90-34.

Lead Devil
It was Tolentino again leading the way for FDU, scoring a career high 18-points on 8-of-12 (67%) from the field, including a game high 12 in the fourth quarter.

Dishing the Rock
Coleman finished the game with four assists, three in the fourth quarter.

The Devils head back on the road for a MAC Freedom matchup at Wilkes University on Thursday, February 25 with tip-off set for 7:00pm.
