Men's Basketball Drops Match-up at Lycoming College, 86-51

MADISON, NJ (February 12, 2021)- FDU Men's Basketball travelled to Williamsport, PA on Friday night, for the backend of a home and home with Lycoming College, falling 86-51. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-2 (0-2) and the Warriors improve to 2-0 (2-0).

The Game
Lycoming controlled the game from the tip, going on a 7:00 minute, 16-point run to start the game. Senior Oliver Ortman stopped the bleeding with a bucket in the paint. The Warriors would go on to outscore FDU, 47-20 during the first half. Ortman and first-year Michael Dabas led the Devils with 5-points apiece in the first 20-minutes.

FDU was able to create more offense in the second half, tallying 31-points, including 11-points off of Lycoming turnovers and 6-points on the fast break. Dabas continued his good shooting in the second half, scoring eight of the Devils first ten-points in the period. Frist-year, Matthew Johnson then took over, recording the next 10 FDU points, including an old fashion three-point play and a basket from beyond the arc. Johnson led all scorers in the second half with 12-points on 4-of-6 (80%) shooting from the field.

Lead Devil
It was Johnson again leading the way for FDU, scoring a team high 14-points on 6-of-12 (50%) shooting from the field while recording six rebounds.

Helping the Cause
Dabas had a great second game in a Devils uniform, finishing with a career high 12-points on 3-of-6 (50%) shooting from the field and leading all players with five free throws made on seven attempts. Sophomore, Miles Crystian also recorded six-points, six rebounds, a block and an assist in just over 14-minutes of action.

From Coach
"We've got a lot of work to do but we've got to get back to the basics. We're making a simple and fun game very complicated and we're not having a lot of success doing so"- Head Coach, Jeff Slanovec
