Men's Soccer, DeSales Play to 3-3 Double OT Draw

Center Valley, Pa. (October 9) – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team and DeSales University played to a 3-3 double OT draw this afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action.

Five of the six goals in today's matchup were scored in the first half. FDU scored just seven minutes into the contest as Brandon McGregor (Highland Mills, NY) found Ricky La Stella (Bridgewater, NJ), who drove through the DeSales defense and shot the ball past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.

DeSales answered less than ten minutes later as Elek McDonald passed the ball to Dimeji Oyinkolade, who scored his tenth goal of the year and knotted the game up at 1-1. FDU was awarded a penalty kick in the 23rd minute and Salvatore Vassallo (Verona, NJ) converted it for the 2-1 edge.
 
Two more goals were scored, one by each team, before the horn sounded for the halftime break. Larry Agyei scored off a feed by Jake Hain for DeSales, while Yariel Parapi (Bergen, NJ) notched his second goal of the season off a long throw by Vassallo for the Devils.

FDU remained ahead 3-2 until there was less than a minute left in regulation as McDonald knocked the game tying goal into the back of the net from 25 yards out on a failed clear attempt by the Devils.
 
In the two overtime sessions, DeSales out shot FDU 3-0, and the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

Over the course of 110 minutes, DeSales held a 13-9 edge in shots (7-6 on goal), while FDU took four of the game's seven corner kicks.
 
FDU keeper Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY) made three saves in the effort for the Devils, while Nathan Hatzfield stopped the ball twice for DeSales.
 
The Devils will return home for a MAC Freedom match on Wednesday, October 16 at 7:00 pm against Delaware Valley.
