Dallas, Pa. 9 (October 8) – The FDU-Florham field hockey team fell to Misericordia University, 3-1, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup on Friday evening.

Misericordia out shot FDU 6-0 in the first quarter and capitalized with less than three minutes to play as Mikayla Cavenas found Lily Metress for the early 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 until halftime as the Cougars held the Devils to just one shot over the first 30 minutes of action.
The hosts doubled their lead just four minutes into the third quarter as Madison Posivak registered an unassisted strike. FDU answered five minutes later and cut the deficit back to one at 2-1. The Devils were awarded their first penalty corner of the game and converted it as
Sydney Moskal (Washington, NJ) fed the ball to
Rachel McHale (Montville, NJ), who ripped a shot into the back of the cage for her second goal of the year.
The fourth quarter was statistically even as both teams took three shots and had three penalty corner opportunities. FDU forced Misericordia keeper Oliva Gretz to make three saves, but it was the Cougars who came out on top as they were awarded a penalty stroke with six minutes to play in regulation. Allie Bianco fired the ball into the left side of the cage for the 3-1 lead.
Misericordia out shot FDU 12-7 (8-5 on goal) and held a 10-5 edge in penalty corners over the 60 minutes of action. FDU keeper

FDU will play its final non-conference regular season contest on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 at Stockton University.
