Montclair, NJ (October 6) – The FDU-Florham volleyball team fell in straight sets on the road tonight in a non-conference matchup at Montclair State University by scores of 25-23, 25-10, 25-16.

FDU led for the majority of the opening set, held a late 21-18 lead and forced the hosts to call a timeout. Montclair came out of the timeout and scored four straight points for the 22-21 edge. FDU tied the match on the very next point on an error by Montclair, but two errors by the Devils paired with a kill by Kiara Polanco gave the hosts a 25-23 win in set one.
In set two, Montclair State raced out to an 11-3 lead and never looked back en route to the 25-10 victory. The third set was tied at 9-9, but Montclair scored four straight to go ahead 13-9 and that was the set deciding run as the Red Hawks swept the Devils tonight.
Abigail Rock (Stewartsville, NJ) led FDU with six kills, while
Adrienne DeFuria (Randolph, NJ) added five kills and
Sophia Miskulin (New Providence, NJ) tallied four kills. Defensively,
Jessica Garreffa (Chatham, NJ) and
Charlotte Fruscione (Mahwah, NJ) notched double digit digs with 12 and 11, respectively.
FDU will host Kean University and Saint Elizabeth in a tri match on Saturday, October 9 beginning at 10:00 am inside the Ferguson Rec Center.
