Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (October 5) – Men's tennis senior
JT Murray (Bayville, NJ) earned his 50th career win this weekend at the King's College Fall Invitational. Murray reached the semifinal round of the No. 5 singles flight and would have played in the championship match, but all matches on Sunday were canceled due to poor weather in Pennsylvania.
Murray, who competed in the No. 5 singles flight, topped Sal Sullivan from Scranton, 6-3, 6-0, in the quarterfinals and Luke Thatcher of Arcadia, 6-0, 6-2, in the semifinals. The championship match was not played due to poor weather on Sunday.
In the No. 1 singles flight, junior
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) topped Logan Gregory of King's, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 2 singles flight, junior
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) defeated Patrick O'Mara of Scranton, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 3 singles flight junior
Jacob Mostoller (Mullica Hill, NJ) bested Peyton Argot of Misericordia, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 4 singles flight sophomore
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) topped John Duncan of Susquehanna, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 6 singles flight graduate student
Tyler Schacher (Blooming Grove, NY) blanked Zack Burkhart of Penn College, 6-0, 6-0 and in the No. 7 singles flight first-year
Dylan Andrada (New Brunswick, NJ) defeated Conor Ryan of Susquehanna, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 as well as Ryan Wolford of Scranton, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
All doubles tournament brackets were played to completion. In the No. 1 doubles bracket, Carasso and Puccia defeated Tucker Phillippe-Johansson and Paul Langnein of Penn College, 8-7 (5-0) but fell in the semifinal round to a duo from Susquehanna. Mostoller and Murray reached the semifinal round in the No. 2 doubles bracket after they defeated Sal Sullivan and Steven Properino of Scranton, 8-3.
FDU-Florham rounds out its 2021 fall season this afternoon with a road match at Immaculata at 3:30 pm this afternoon.
