Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (October 2) – In the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener for both teams today, the FDU-Florham men's soccer team was edged by Wilkes University, 1-0.

The match was scoreless until the 66th minute when Andrew Reichard finished a cross from the left side from Lucas Mueller. FDU nearly tied the match with under 15 minutes to play as
Ricky La Stella (Bridgewater, NJ)fired the ball off a corner kick to the head of
Salvatore Vassallo (Verona, NJ). Vassallo leapt and ripped a header towards the net, but it ricocheted off the crossbar.
Wilkes held a 15-6 advantage in shots (7-1 on goal) and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Both keepers played 90 minutes. FDU keeper
Tiernan Grey (Staten Island, NY) made five saves for the Devils, while Zach Tone stopped the ball once for Wilkes.
FDU will host King's College (Pa.) on Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 pm in another MAC Freedom matchup.
