Men's Lacrosse Falls to Farmingdale State, 15-11

FARMINGDALE, NY (February 23, 2020)- FDU Men's Lacrosse fell to Farmingdale State University on Sunday afternoon by the score of 15-11. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-3 on the season while the Rams improve their record to 2-0.

FIRST HALF
The game was back and forth all day, with Farmingdale getting on the board first with a goal at the 6:06 mark in the first quarter. FDU responded with 1:51 left in the frame, thanks to an unassisted goal from sophomore Zane Johnston. The Rams response was quick, netting another goal just 40-seconds later to regain the lead. FDU had a response of their own, this time in the form of two goals in 18-seconds. First, with :23 seconds on the clock, freshman Michael Stewart connected with the back of the next off an assist from Johnson, then, senior John Guido scored one of his own with :5 seconds left in the quarter. The Devils took their first lead of the game and held a 3-2 advantage heading into the second.

Farmingdale again had the response, scoring four goals before the 7:29 mark in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead. Johnson continued his great play, scoring his second of the game with three-minutes left in the half and his third with one-minute left, the Devils trailed 6-5 at the halftime break.

SECOND HALF
The Rams offense picked up where they left off in half one, scoring the first two goals of the third quarter and extending their lead to 8-5. With FDU having the up advantage, senior Pat Stewart netted his first of the game to pull the Devils within two. After Farmingdale scored two more, it was Guido with his second of the game to get FDU back on the board. The Rams would add one more in the third to take an 11-7 advantage headed into the fourth quarter.

After the Rams struck first, junior Drew Bukowiec put one past the goalie off Guido's third assist of the game. It was Bukowiec again three-minutes later, scoring his second of the game. With 7:39 remaining, freshman Sean O'Donoghue scored his first career goal off a helper from Johnston, FDU trailed 13-10. Farmingdale responded just 15-seconds later, increasing their lead back to four. The Devils M. Stewart connected on his second goal of the game with just under five-minutes remaining for FDU's final offensive tally.

LEAD DEVIL
Johnston was a force for the Devils offensively, scoring three goals on 14 shots and recording 3 assists.

ALL OVER
Guido had a strong performance in all areas of the game for FDU, finishing with two goals on nine shots, with two assists and six groundballs.

IN GOAL
Senior goalie Adam Reifer faced 24 shots on the day and recorded nine saves. In all three games this season, Reifer has recorded nine or more saves.

FRESHMAN FEELS
O'Donoghue scored his first collegiate goal, on his first collegiate shot, at the 7:39 mark of the fourth quarter.
