YORK, PA (February 16, 2020)- FDU Men's and Women's Swimming closed out the final day of the 2020 MAC Conference Swimming Championships with a record nine swimmers reaching the finals. Overall, the men's team finished with 351 points and in 9th place while the women ended the weekend with 409 points and in 8th place.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior
Molly Miller earned a berth in the 1650 freestyle final and swam a time of 18:08.51, finishing in fourth place.
- Freshman
Liz Briles locked up a spot in the finals of the 100 freestyle and finished with a time of 57.07.
- Freshmen sisters
Emma Dougherty and
Sarah Dougherty both reached the finals in the 200 backstroke, finishing with times of 2:16.90 and 2:17.09.
- Freshman
Paige Strangeway reach the 200 breaststroke finals and raced a time of 2:44.45.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior
Eric Bang broke the school record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:31.80, beating his previous record of 16:37.60 and finishing the race in fifth place.
- Junior
Josh Atkins landed a spot in the finals of the 200 backstroke and finished with a time of 2:11.49.
- Also in the 200 backstroke finals was Freshman
Jack Hulsart who swam a time of 2:12.55.
- Freshman
Jimmy Dougherty continued to swim well, reaching the 200 breastroke finals and recording a time of 2:21.02.
