MADISON, NJ (February 15, 2020)- FDU Women's basketball defeated Delaware Valley University on senior day Saturday, 51-47. With the win, the Devils improve to 6-17 overall and 4-8 in the MAC Freedom Conference while Aggies fall to 1-22 and 0-12 in conference play.
FIRST HALF
Junior Helen Ishmael started the scoring off by knocking down both free throws to tie the game at two. After giving up back to back baskets, Senior Jennah Roman sank a three from fellow senior Cayla Staggers. The Devils then went on a 9-2 run to make the score 14-8. The Aggies knocked down back to back jumpers to finish out quarter one. Both teams shared baskets before the Devils hit back to back to back baskets to make the score 22-14. The Aggies outscored the Devils 8-2 to finish out the half with a lead of 24-22.
SECOND HALF
Less than three minutes into the second half, the Aggies took the lead before Ishmael sank a basket to tie the game at 26. Both teams shared baskets for the remainder of the third quarter. The Aggies would run out to a six point lead, before Sophomore Arian Coleman made a free throw to stunt their momentum. Back to back buckets from Freshman Jayda Bing and a three from Roman would tie the game at 38. The Devils would then go on a six-point run, to make the score 44-38. Back to back threes from the Aggies and a made free throw for each team would tie the game at 45. A minute later, the Aggies would take the lead off a jumper to make the score 46-47. The Devils would hit five free throws in the last minute of the game to secure the victory.
LEAD DEVIL
Roman knocked down 13 points, adding on five rebounds, four assists, and three steals on the day. Bing added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
