Fiorenza Notches 50th Career Win as Men's Tennis Takes Down SUNY Delhi

MADISON, N.J. (April 5, 2019) - Junior Chris Fiorenza of the FDU-Florham men's tennis team picked up his 50th career victory as the Devils cruised to an 8-1 triumph over SUNY Delhi Friday.

The Devils move their record to 8-5 on the season and will play their third match in three days tomorrow when they head to Misericordia.

Moving up a flight, Fiorenza and freshman JT Murray pitched a shutout at No. 1 doubles, blanking their opponents 8-0. Junior Kevin Weller teamed up with sophomore Tyler Schacher at the second flight and also breezed through the Broncos in winning 8-0. The lone setback came at the bottom of the doubles lineup, as senior Brendon Urbano and rookie CJ Milano fell 8-6.

That 8-6 setback was the lone blemish of the day for the Devils, as all six singles flights earned victories. Urbano rebounded from the loss to win 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, with Schacher dropping only one game over his two frames. Schacher won 6-1, 6-0 at the No, 5, as Murray notched a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3.

Weller made it 2-for-2 on the day with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set triumph at the top of the Devils lineup, while freshman John Bricker stepped up a flight to No. 2 singles and dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Fiorenza closed out the afternoon at No. 4 singles, easily picking up a 6-0, 6-1 triumph to wrap up the day for FDU.
