MADISON, N.J. (April 4, 2019) - The FDU-Florham men's tennis team was topped Oneonta 8-1 on Thursday afternoon.
FDU falls to 7-5 on the season with the setback.
The Devils fell behind 3-0 after doubles, falling in all three flights. Senior
Rich Bennett and junior
Kevin Weller dropped an 8-3 decision at the top of the lineup, while freshman
JT Murray and junior
Chris Fiorenza were topped 8-1 at No. 2. In the No. 3 flight, sophomore
Tyler Schacher and rookie
Michael LaNeve fell 8-2.
Bennett battled at No. 1 singles but fell 6-2, 7-5 with Weller dropping a 6-0, 6-3 decision at the No. 2 flight. Freshman
John Bricker and Murray fell in the middle of the lineup, with Schacher getting topped 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
The Devils did manage one victory on the day, with Fiorenza picking up a win at No. 6 singles to close out the afternoon. After squeaking by 7-5 in the opening frame, the junior won the second set handily 6-0.
