WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 27, 2019) - Freshman
Erin Weller recorded the game-winning victory at No. 6 singles to give the FDU-Florham women's tennis team a 5-4 win over host King's College Saturday.
FDU matches the school-record for wins in a season, moving to 15-4 overall including a 5-2 mark in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. The Devils earned the No. 3 seed in next week's MAC Freedom Championship Tournament.
The Devils trailed 2-1 entering singles play, dropping doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. Sophomore

Mia Capozzoli fell 8-6 at the top of the lineup, while junior
Christine Kenny and sophomore
Brooke Dorsey fell by the same score at No. 3. Sophomore
Kira Bradley and junior
Logan Squires picked the big win, earning an 8-3 decision at the second flight.
FDU was handed setbacks at both the first and second flights but rebounded to win the next four. Senior
Allyson Wolf, Bradley and Capozzoli each won in straight sets, starting with Capozzoli picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5. Wolf won by the same margin at No. 3 singles, before Bradley won 6-2, 6-2.
With the match level at four, Weller broke the tie in perhaps her most significant win of the season. She won 6-3 in the opening stanza before cruising to a 6-1 triumph, giving the Devils the 5-4 win. Had Weller fallen, the Devils would have entered a tiebreaker with Manhattanville and the Monarchs.
