Men's Tennis Earns 8-1 Victories Over Delaware Valley, St. Elizabeth

MADISON, N.J. (April 24, 2019) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis recorded 8-1 victories over Delaware Valley University and the College of St. Elizabeth Wednesday.

FDU improves to 14-7 on the season, including a 4-2 mark within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom.

MATCH 1: FDU-Florham 8, Delaware Valley 1
The Devils dropped just one game in doubles action en route to the 3-0 sweep. Senior Brendon Urbano teamed with rookie John Bricker for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, with freshmen JT Murray and Michael LaNeve also pitching the 8-0 shutout. Senior Rich Bennett and junior Kevin Weller notched the 8-1 triumph at the top of the lineup to send the contest into singles play.

Bennett and Weller only dropped one game each at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively, as Bricker was a double winner as well. The rookie won at the third flight 6-1, 6-3. Murray picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, as LaNeve blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 to close out Devils wins in the opening match.

MATCH 2: FDU-Florham 8, St. Elizabeth 1
In the second match of the day, the Devils lost only five games in doubles while winning all three flights. Bennett and Weller won 8-1 again, as Murray teamed with junior Chris Fiorenza for an 8-2 victory. In the final doubles flight, newcomer CJ Milano partnered with Urbano in winning 8-2.

Weller and LaNeve each earned shutouts in their singles matches, as LaNeve did not surrender a game on the afternoon. He won 8-0, as Weller won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Bennett breezed through his opponent for a 6-1, 6-2 triumph, before Bricker dropped just one game in his 6-1, 6-0 decision. Murray ended the day with 8-1 win at No. 4 singles.
