MADISON, N.J. (April 24, 2019) – Junior
Christine Kenny earned her 50th career victory as the FDU-Florham women's tennis team topped both Delaware Valley University and the College of St. Elizabeth Wednesday.
The Devils improve to 14-4 on the season, 4-2 within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. Kenny became the third Devil to record her 50th win this season, joining sophomores
Kira Bradley and
Nicole DelRosso.
MATCH 1: FDU-Florham 8, Delaware Valley 1
The Aggies forfeited matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, giving FDU a 2-0 lead. Junior
Mia Capozzoli and DelRosso cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles as sophomore
Brooke Dorsey, and senior
Allyson Wolf teamed up to win 8-3 at the second flight.
DelRosso escaped a tiebreaker in the first set at No. 1 singles, winning 7-6 (7-1). It was smooth sailing for the sophomore in the second stanza, winning easily 6-0. Kenny and Bradley each won in straight sets, while Capozzoli only dropped two games en route to her 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 singles.
MATCH 2: FDU-Florham 9, St. Elizabeth 0
FDU was dominant in doubles action, surrendering just three games. Bradley partnered with junior
Logan Squires for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, as DelRosso and Capozzoli picked up an additional 8-0 triumph at the top of the lineup. Junior
Kasia Kasztelan and rookie
Erin Weller completed the doubles sweep, winning 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Kenny earned her second victory of the day, blanking her opponent 8-0 at No. 2 singles while Weller picked up a 6-0, 6-0 shutout. Kasztelan made it 2-for-2 with her straight-set win at No. 6, as Bradley also didn't give up a game en route to her 6-0, 6-0 triumph. DelRosso closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the top of the lineup.
