MADISON, N.J. (April 23, 2019) - Freshmen Johnny Bricker and
JT Murray each won two matches, but the FDU-Florham men's tennis team was edged by the College of Staten Island 5-4 Tuesday afternoon.
FDU falls to 12-7 on the season, as CSI moves to 9-2.
The Devils trailed 2-1 entering singles play, dropping decisions at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles flights. Senior

Kevin Weller engaged in a spirited battle at the top of lineup but were knocked off 8-6. Senior

Tyler Schacher were bested 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, but the team received a boost at the third flight. Murray and Bricker teamed together for an 8-5 victory to close out the doubles matches.
Bennett dropped his first frame 6-3 before rebounding with a 6-2 win the second set, forcing a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Bennett was knocked off 10-5. Weller also was knocked off in singles play, falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 at No. 2 singles, as Schacher was bumped off 6-1, 6-4. Bricker and Murray each earned singles victories, with Bricker handling his opponent 7-5, 6-2. Murray cruised to a win at No. 4 singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-2 triumph.

The Devils will host two matches tomorrow, starting with Delaware Valley University at 3:30 p.m. After that, the College of Saint Elizabeth will cross the street for a 6 p.m. showdown.
