Kevin Weller and
Chris Fiorenza each earned two victories as the FDU-Florham men's tennis team picked up a 5-4 win over DeSales University Thursday.
Weller teamed up with senior
Rich Bennett to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, with Fiorenza partnering with rookie
JT Murray for an 8-4 victory. The Devils led 2-1 after the three doubles flights, with DeSales notching an 8-4 triumph at No. 3.
Weller made it 2-for-2 when they entered singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2. The Bulldogs cut into the Devils lead with victories at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles, but Fiorenza notched a three-set win. In the three-set thriller, the junior dropped the opening frame 6-4 before rebounding with a 6-4 bounce back win in the second to force the final set. Fiorenza won the tiebreaker 6-4 as well.
Freshman
John Bricker closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles, giving FDU the 5-4 advantage.
