HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 11, 2019) - The FDU-Florham men's tennis team doubled up Thomas College 6-3 in their first match of the spring season Saturday.
The Devils improve to 2-1 on the season.
FDU went up 2-1 after the three doubles matches. The No. 3 team of sophomore

Michael LaNeve breezed to an 8-2 win while never trailing in the match. Junior

Rich Bennett dropped an 8-3 decision at the top of the lineup before senior
Chris Fiorenza and freshman
JT Murray closed out doubles with an 8-5 win. They fell behind 4-3 before coming to pull in front 7-4. After Thomas took the next game, Fiorenza and Murray closed out the set with a win.
Bennett dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles, while Murray suffered a 6-1, 6-2 setback at No. 3. Freshman
John Bricker registered a shutout at the No. 4 flight. The rookie was dominant in his 6-0, 6-0 blanking.
LaNeve and Fiorenza each recorded their second win of the night, winning in straight sets at No. 6 and No. 5 singles respectively. The rookie LaNeve won 6-3, 6-2 with Fiorenza picking up a 6-4, 6-1 triumph. Weller picked up an easy 6-1 in the opening set at No. 2 singles before battling in the second frame. The junior earned a hard-fought 7-5 to close out the Devils win.
After a day off tomorrow, the Devils return to the court Tuesday taking on Quincy University at 3:30 p.m.
