Adragna, Belanger Set Milestones in 17-6 Win Over Rosemont

Adragna Set the School-Record with 8 Caused Turnovers; Belanger Notches 100th Career Point

MADISON, N.J. (February 27, 2019) – Senior Michael Adragna and junior John Belanger of the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team set milestones in the 17-6 triumph over Rosemont Wednesday. 

Adragna set a new school record with eight caused turnovers while Belanger recorded his 100th career point. 

FDU-Florham improves to 2-1, including 2-0 at home while Rosemont College drops to 1-1.

The Devils found the back of the net early and often as they scored five goals within the first seven minutes of the contest. Freshman Zane Johnston netted the first goal, while sophomore Drew Bukowiec, juniors John Guido and John Belanger, and senior Kyle Conrad each had a goal of their own to give the Devils the early lead. Bukowiec would net his second goal of the period with 4:54 left in the opening period. 

The Ravens cut into the Devils lead by scoring two consecutive goals within nine seconds of each other, but the host Devils netted two more goals during the final minute to make it an 8-2 game. Johnston tallied his second while junior Pat Stewart recorded his first goal of the afternoon. 

Senior Michael Warg joined the scoring party in the second period by netting his fifth of the season with 10:33 left in the half. The tough Devils defense forced the Ravens to commit nine turnovers in the second quarter and limited them to only six shots. The Ravens were able to find the back of the net with nine seconds left in the first half, but FDU went into the half with a 9-3 edge. 

The Devils continued to pour it on in the third period, with goals by Stewart, sophomore Tyler Garcia, and Bukowiec. The goal by Bukowiec with 3:36 left in the third period completed the hat trick for him. The Ravens would score two goals in the final three minutes of the third quarter to make it a 12-5 heading into the last quarter. 

Belanger scored his fourth goal of the game with 3:39 remaining in the final period. The goal not only extended his streak of scoring four or more goals to three games, but it pushed him to the 100 point mark. He became the 37th player in school-history to record 100 career points. Garcia capped off the scoring with a goal with just one minute remaining in the fourth quarter.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
•    The eight first-quarter goals were the most for the Devils this season. 
•    The Devils were perfect in the first half in extra-man opportunities. 
•    Bukowiec, Johnston, and Belanger all scored to continue their goal streaks to three games. 
•    This was the first multi-goal game for Johnston, He also set a new career high with 3 points (2G-1A). 
•    Freshman MacGyver Hay recorded his first collegiate point in the fourth quarter, recording an assist on Belanger's third tally.
•    Junior Adam Reifer had nine saves in net for the Devils.
•    Adragna broke the previous benchmark of six, which he held with Dan Decker and Peter Biondi.
•    Garcia recorded his first career multi-goal game with the two-goal effort tonight.
•    The Devils doubled up Rosemont with 50-25 edge in shots and forced 32 Raven turnovers.
  
UP NEXT 
The Devils will conclude their homestand on Wednesday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. against Bard College. The Devils defeated Bard 15-11 last season. Bukowiec set career highs with 4 goals and 3 assists in the match-up last year.
