MADISON, N.J. (November 2, 2019) – The FDU field hockey team was knocked off by No. 10 Rowan University 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
Rowan improves to 14-3, while FDU falls to 15-4.
The Profs attempted the first three shots of the game, but none were able to reach the Devils goalkeeper. Off a penalty corner, the Devils were able to make the most of their first shot of the game. Junior

Marie Pietracatella. The senior fired a shot that was tipped in front by junior
Allison Attardi for the goal.
FDU nearly doubled their lead in the 13th minute, as senior
Maggie Sohns had her shot go just wide of the post. Rowan had their first shot on goal in the 14th minute, but junior goalkeeper
Megan March made the save. The Profs leveled the game in the 19th minute, converting a two-on-one. The two sides entered halftime, even at a goal each.
Off a penalty corner, the Profs took the lead for the first time in the afternoon. The ball came to the top of the circle, and then the ensuing shot was deflected in front to give Rowan the 2-1 lead. FDU had a golden opportunity in the 35th minute, as sophomore
Sydney Moskal was denied on a pair of chances in close. As time was winding down in the third period, Sohns had her opportunity blocked, and the team trailed 2-1 going into the fourth quarter.
Junior
Nicole LaMorte prevented the Profs off extending their advantage, notching a defensive save in the 51st minute. 2:25 after the defensive stop, Rowan doubled their lead, notching a goal off a corner attempt. The Devils attempted to cut into the lead, as shots in the 53rd and 58th minutes were off target. The Profs defense didn't allow a shot on goal the rest of the way, claiming the 3-1 win.
